MetaMask – Ethereum Browser Extension

MetaMask enables users to view Ethereum in their browser, without having to leave their website. The extension allows you to make Ethereum transactions right from your web browser.

How does it work?

MetaMask’s extension adds Ethereum’s web3 API into any Javascript context. It means that when you view a webpage, the extension is able to see the blockchain information. These include the Ethereum addresses for every wallet, their associated balances, as well as the Ethereum address and balance at the contract address. The number of transactions completed is also included.

When a user registers, a wallet is automatically created in his MetaMask Client. From there, the user can move tokens among addresses, make withdrawals and transfers, and move money between wallets.
